You know you lived in Khartoum when...

- you went to Afra Mall for your first week but never went back after.
- your main work from Monday to Wednesday is to find out how to place your name on a guest list for a Thursday evening party.
- the DJ for those parties was Seif.
- you think that 35 to 39° C is a good outside temperature.
- you were involved / witnessed rickshaw crash.
- you had 2 occasions in a year to wear a sweater.
- every Friday morning you take breakfast to Ozone and say hello to everybody out there.
- after that you go to the swimming pool at the Sudan German club, and complain about the huge number of people in the water.
- you know that Al Hawi is cheaper than Amarat centre.- you have something coming from the small Omdurman leather shop (you think it is a secret address but everybody knows it).
- you saw ashtrays made with baby crocodile heads.
- you know that the French Cultural Centre is the only place for discovering Sudanese culture. - you hated at first but finally enjoyed non-alcoholic beer, especially the fruit flavoured ones.
- you prefer Universal Café ice creams to Tutti Frutti’s ones, and Tutti Frutti’s ones to Ozone ice creams.
- you live in Khartoum II, Amarat and Riyad. Elsewhere is another town. .
- you enjoy to turn your air conditioner on 18°C only in order to sleep with a blanket.
- you think that every foreigner in Sudan is working for UN or NGOs.
- you still not understand why you have to pay to leave the country (isn’t it like being an hostage ? ).
- it was quite hard to get adapted to the country at your arrival ….but after a while you like it.
- you have never read so many books in your like.
- you’ve been drinking any sort of alcohol packed in small bags. - you employ and pay tradesmen to fix things, (air-conditioners, toilets etc) only to find it is A: still broken afterwards, or B: worse than before.
- the power goes out and you continue eating/cooking your dinner, even though you can't see it. You know the generator will start up soon.
- you have created your own names for landmarks... Barista Street, Power Pole Road, the Egg, the Roundabout of Death etc and you use these names when
 giving people directions.
- you clean your white clothes in brown water.
- you start enjoying a hot water shower even in the heat of summer.
- you return from abroad, your luggage includes several bottles of "water"
- you see that the outside world does have more then one paved road!
- seeing people walking around with AK47 as norm.
- the words 'bukara enchala' makes you cringe especially when spoken about your broken ac!
- you receive daily phone call from people you don't know, speaking a language that you don't know also
- you start loving the wine served in airplanes or airports.
- you were sweating without doing any thing.
- you promise not to come back before at least one year and two month later, you sign another contract for one year more.
- you go for a barbecue on the Nile and you come back with malaria.
- you know exactly everytime where is the East.
- ...

...and so on...
(all for fun....tratto da feisbuk groups)
